awwwrite is a free, unlimited place to write books, share them and read other people’s books. This page explains what we keep about you and why.
What we keep
- Your email address. You sign in with a one-time 6-digit code sent to it; there are no passwords.
- Your display name and, if you add them, a profile photo, bio and website.
- Your books: their text, notes and covers.
- Your favorites, reviews and comments.
Readers don’t need an account to read books.
Where it lives
The site runs on servers in Germany (EU), with Cloudflare in front for speed and security. Email, such as your sign-in codes, is sent by Amazon SES.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Reader statistics are counted in totals only, without storing who read.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
Your books and your account
- “Download my books” gives you a Markdown zip of your books, notes and covers.
- Deleting your account removes your account and the books you own. Cached covers and photos may stay available for up to one hour.
Your requests
To see the data we keep about you, correct it or delete it, write to [email protected].
